My Beautiful Mess

Have I told you I have two boys? Well, just in case you forgot, I have Cooper who is 6 - oops, excuse me, he is 6 and a 1/2! And Drew is 4. The thing I may not have told you is that they are best friends. Seriously. If you ask either one of them “who is your best friend?”, their answer will be “my brother.” And I promise, we have not brainwashed them to say this!

Yes, Ryan and I encourage nice words and actions towards others…but this friend thing, I can only describe it as divine.

They play so great with each other. I have had several people comment just this week about how well they play with each other or how sweet they are to each other. They have their own language too, like you hear about twins having. They will be crackin’ each other up and Ryan and I will just be lookin’ at them, thinking “what is so funny!?” Sometimes they get so crazy together that it drives me crazy - but as Ryan said recently, “Just be glad they like each other.”

And I do absolutely treasure it! They rarely ask for friends to come over and play because they have each other. I have always said that if (God forbid) something happened to Ryan or I, they would be O.K. because they have each other. But I don’t even want to think about the other way around.

So, Father, I want to publicly thank you for the gift of friendship between my boys. Thank You for how it encourages me, is an example to others, and helps to keep me sane!
